How Much Do AEO and GEO Services Cost? Published Prices From 16 Agencies (2026)
In short: Among 16 agencies that publish AEO or GEO prices on their own sites (as of November 6, 2026), small fixed-scope plans cost $249 to $1,497 a month, most done-for-you programs start at $3,000 to $5,000 a month, and larger B2B programs run $10,000 to $20,000 or more. One-time audits start at $297. Scope drives price.
How much do AEO and GEO agencies charge?
AEO and GEO agencies that publish prices charge from $249 a month for a small fixed-scope plan to $20,000 a month or more for a large B2B program, with most full programs starting at $3,000 to $5,500 a month. AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) are two names for the same work: getting your company named and cited when buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot or Google's AI features. "AI SEO" and "LLM SEO" are other labels for it, and they do not change the price.
Most agencies do not publish prices. These 16 do, on their own pages (as of November 6, 2026). Figures are each agency's own, in US dollars unless noted, not verified client invoices.
| Agency | Published price | What the entry price includes | Term and fees |

| iPullRank | "Investment Range" $30K to $150K, $150K to $500K, $500K+ | AI search programs; the period is not stated | Not stated |
Omniscient Digital is $120,000 a year divided by 12. AppLabx and Tenten show "$" without naming the currency. Discovered Labs (from €6,995) is priced in euros; NoGood publishes an average and iPullRank ranges without a period, so they are left out. Nugentive's $497 plan is coaching; your team does the work.

Top Seed AI sells this work and shares its plan and price privately by email after a free comparison page, so it is not in the table.
How to check: before comparing totals, find on each agency's pricing page the minimum term, what is excluded (often links or an off-site budget) and how many buyer questions it tracks.
What should you get for the money?
The money should buy named, countable work: a fixed list of buyer questions measured before and after, a set number of pages or placements each month, and a report you can check. What published packages include at each price:
| Monthly price | What published packages include |
|---|---|
| Under $1,500 | Strategy, a content calendar and coaching, with most of the doing left to you (NetWebMedia $249, Nugentive $497); 3 to 5 pages a month at Nugentive's $1,497 plan |
| About $3,000 | 50 prompts tracked across 10 engines plus 3 content or PR assets (WebFX); 4 articles, 3 refreshes and monitoring (RevenueZen); 5 guest-post backlinks plus audit and drafts (Stackmatix) |
| About $5,000 | 100 prompts and 6 assets (WebFX, $5,250); 6 articles, 5 refreshes and schema (RevenueZen); 18 on-page assets per 90 days plus a separate off-site budget (DerivateX); 4 link placements and an earned media campaign (Digital Elevator) |
| $10,000 and up | 250 prompts and 15 assets (WebFX, $12,000); 8 articles, original research and 12 LinkedIn posts (RevenueZen, $10,000); 45 on-page assets a quarter plus $2,000 to $3,000 off-site (DerivateX, $12,000); up to 30 content units (Discovered Labs, €10,995) |
Whatever the price, get in writing: a baseline on questions that do not name you, with full answer text saved; the number of questions, assistants and runs; a monthly list of work done, with links; and your ownership of content, accounts and data. Our measurement method is in How We Test.
What do surveys say about SEO and AEO agency pricing?
Surveys of agency pricing are thin for AEO: the large ones cover SEO in general, and the only AEO-specific study we found comes from an agency that sells the service. Read them as context, not a market average.
| Source | Who and when | What it found | Interest and limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ahrefs, SEO pricing survey | 439 SEO providers; published Dec 2023, updated Aug 2024 | Agencies average $3,209/month; the most common retainer is $501 to $1,000 (20.4%); 68.8% charge $2,000 or less; average hourly rate $111 | SEO in general, not AEO; survey date not stated; Ahrefs sells SEO software |
| SE Ranking with Duda, SEO pricing survey | 260 agencies (170 surveyed plus 90 from a catalog); published Dec 13, 2024 | 64% charge under $1,000/month; 45% charge $50 to $100 an hour; agencies with set prices for AI search optimization charge, or plan to charge, about $937/month on average | 94% serve small or local businesses; SE Ranking says the sample "may not be large enough to reach statistical significance"; it sells SEO software |
| First Page Sage, GEO and AEO pricing statistics | 1,146 price quotes from 214 agencies, Jul 6 to Oct 2, 2026; published Oct 7, 2026 | Median GEO/AEO retainer $6,850/month in Q3 2026 (SEO: $4,740); its "Starter" tier for small businesses runs $1,800 to $4,200, median $2,950, 3-month minimum | First Page Sage sells GEO and includes its own prices; the raw data is not published, so we could not check it |
| HubSpot, Guide to Services for Loop Marketing | Undated guide for HubSpot's partner agencies | Suggests $3,000 to $6,000/month ongoing, or a $7,000 to $12,000 six-week sprint, for a package with AI search optimization plus creator, video and cross-channel work | Suggested prices, not measured ones; the bundle is broader than AEO; HubSpot sells AEO software |
How to check: open a survey's method section and look for the sample size, the dates and who ran it.
Our reading, not a measured finding: the gap between SE Ranking's $937 average and First Page Sage's $6,850 median reflects who was asked: mostly small agencies serving local businesses in one, tiers up to enterprise programs in the other.
How much does AEO cost if you do it yourself with a tool?
Doing AEO yourself costs $29 to about $300 a month for a tracking tool, plus your team's time to act on what it shows. Entry prices on the vendors' own pages, as of November 6, 2026:
| Tool | Entry price | Entry plan |
|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | $29/month | 15 prompts; ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot |
| HubSpot AEO | $50/month ($45 billed annually) | 25 prompts; ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | $50/month prompt package | 2,500 checks; platforms you choose |
| Peec AI | $95/month | 50 prompts daily; 3 models you choose |
| Semrush AI Visibility | $99/month per domain, billed annually | 25 prompts daily; 4 AI surfaces |
| AthenaHQ | $295/month | 3,600 AI responses; 11 models |
| Goodie | $295/month billed annually ($354 month to month) | 110 prompts; strategist support on every plan |
Free snapshot checks from HubSpot (AI Search Grader), Ahrefs and Semrush do not track over time. A tool shows what to fix; someone still has to do the fixing, and if those hours cost more than the gap to an agency, the tool is not cheaper. Profound Alternatives compares 14 tools' prices and limits; AEO Agency vs AI Visibility Software walks through the choice.
What drives the price of an AEO agency?
Scope drives AEO agency prices: how many questions and markets are tracked, how much content is produced, how much outside work (PR, lists, links) is included, and how much technical work and reporting you get.
Questions, assistants and repeat runs
More questions and more frequent runs cost more. WebFX's tiers scale from 50 tracked prompts at $3,000 a month to 500 at $23,250, and weekly re-runs cost $150 a month per 50 prompts ($850 for daily). AppLabx's entry plan covers 5 prompts on 2 AI models; its top plan, 20 prompts on all models.
Content volume
Content volume rises steeply with price: RevenueZen goes from 4 articles a month at $3,000 to 12 to 15 or more at $15,000. Discovered Labs counts "content units": a blog post or refresh is 1, a new landing page 7.
Off-site work: PR, lists, reviews and links
Off-site work is often priced separately; Lean Labs calls it "the most labor-intensive line item and the most commonly excluded one." DerivateX adds an off-site budget of $1,000 to $3,000 a month on top of the retainer and spends it only with your written approval. Digital Elevator includes 4, 6 or 12 link placements a month on its managed plans. Ask exactly what the off-site money buys.
Technical work
Technical setup is often a one-time fee. Lean Labs' on-site Launchpad starts at $12,000 and covers schema (code that labels page content for search engines), llms.txt and robots.txt files. Google says you do not need new machine-readable files, AI text files or special schema to appear in its AI features; read Do You Need an llms.txt File? and Does Schema Markup Help AI Citations? before paying for that line.
Markets, languages and reporting
Each extra country or language adds tracking and content: AppLabx's tiers go from 1 local market to up to 5 foreign markets. Faster reports and senior people cost more: Tenten includes a weekly citation report, WebFX syncs monthly unless you pay more, and Rock The Rankings adds monthly founder strategy calls at $15,000.
Which pricing models do AEO agencies use?
AEO agencies sell monthly retainers, fixed sprints or projects, one-time audits, hourly consulting, credit or unit pools, and occasionally performance-based deals. Each shifts risk differently:
| Model | How it works | Published examples | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | A fixed fee for ongoing work | WebFX, RevenueZen, Digital Elevator managed plans | Minimum terms (WebFX: 6 months); what is excluded |
| Sprint or project | A fixed scope over 30 to 90 days | Digital Elevator 90-day sprints; DerivateX 90-day pilot; Rock The Rankings 30-day blueprint | What happens at the end; auto-renewal |
| One-time audit | A diagnosis and a roadmap | Nugentive $297; Tenten $1,299; DerivateX $3,500; Discovered Labs €4,370 | Whether the fee credits toward a retainer; whether you get the raw answers |
| Hourly | Paid by the hour | Ahrefs' survey: average $111 an hour for SEO providers | Hours are not outcomes |
| Units or credits | A monthly pool spent on assets | Discovered Labs content units; WebFX "FuelTankFX" assets | How each unit is weighted |
| Performance-based | Pay per result, such as a ranking or citation | ResultFirst advertises a "Pay For Performance model" and "AI Citations, Pay On Results" | Who defines and measures a result |
Performance pricing sounds safe, but AI answers are unstable, so a "result" needs a careful definition. SparkToro's study with Gumshoe.ai (about 600 volunteers, 2,961 runs, late 2025) put the odds of the same brand list appearing twice at under 1 in 100 for ChatGPT and Google's AI; Gumshoe sells AI tracking, and the post says so. Our reading: before paying per result, agree in writing which questions count, how many runs, which assistants, who tests and against what baseline.
What should a small company expect to pay?
A small company can start AEO for under $100 a month with a tool and its own time, pay roughly $300 to $3,500 for a one-time audit at the US-dollar agencies, or budget about $3,000 to $5,000 a month for a done-for-you program (ranges from 16 agencies' pages, not a market average).
For example, a 30-person IT services firm selling in one US region (an illustrative case, not data) might weigh three paths:
- Do it yourself: a $29 to $99 tracker on 15 to 50 buyer questions, with a marketer spending a few hours a week on pages and listings.
- Audit, then do it yourself: a one-time audit (Nugentive $297, Tenten $1,299, DerivateX $3,500) that gives a baseline and a prioritized list your team works through.
- Done for you: a retainer in the $3,000 to $5,000 entry range, with a written list of monthly deliverables and a review after 90 days.
Agencies' own terms point to months, not weeks: DerivateX and Digital Elevator work in 90-day sprints, and WebFX and AppLabx ask for six months. Budget for at least one full sprint before you judge the result.
What questions should you ask before signing?
Ask questions that expose what the price includes and how you can leave; two quotes at the same price can buy very different amounts of work.
- Is the off-site or "citation" budget included, or billed on top?
- If the package includes links, guest posts or placements, are any paid, and are paid links marked as sponsored?
- What is the minimum term, the notice period, and does it renew automatically?
- Is there a setup or onboarding fee, and does an audit fee credit toward the retainer?
- How many questions, on which assistants, run how often, and will I see the raw answers?
- Is the tracking tool included, and do I keep the data and accounts if I leave?
- How many pages, refreshes and placements will I get each month, by name?
- What currency and taxes apply? (Discovered Labs bills in euros; AppLabx and Tenten show "$" without naming the currency.)
For measurement, approvals and ownership, use the ten questions and scorecard in How to Choose an AI Visibility Agency.
What not to do
These pricing and contract mistakes cost money, and some carry ranking or legal risk:
- Do not pay for a guarantee of ChatGPT or Google placement. Google says "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google" and to "find someone else" if an SEO promises first place; WebFX's own page says no GEO agency can guarantee placements. Consequence: you pay for a promise nobody controls.
- Do not pay for an exact "#1 in AI" position. SparkToro found the same list in the same order roughly 1 time in 1,000 and called tools that report an AI "ranking position" "full of baloney". Consequence: the number you pay for will not repeat.
- Do not accept opaque link buying. Google's spam policies list "Buying or selling links for ranking purposes" as link spam unless paid links carry rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow", so ask how any per-backlink or guest-post line is labeled. Consequence: "Sites that violate our policies may rank lower in results or not appear in results at all," or get a manual action.
- Do not buy undisclosed reviews, mentions or community posts. The FTC's fake-review rule (effective October 21, 2024) says agencies and reputation firms are "not immune from liability" and allows civil penalties for knowing violations; its endorsement guidance says paid connections must be disclosed "clearly and conspicuously" and "your company is ultimately responsible for what others do on your behalf." Consequence: legal risk on top of wasted spend.
- Do not pay per page for mass-produced content. Google counts "using generative AI tools or other similar tools to generate many pages without adding value for users" as scaled content abuse. Consequence: lower rankings or removal.
- Do not sign without a baseline. Without a "before" measurement on a fixed question set, nobody can show the money changed anything; SparkToro suggests a visibility percentage across many runs, not one screenshot.
- Do not shortlist from self-ranked "best agency" lists alone. In our check of 16 B2B fields, 62 of 94 "best" list pages were written by a seller that lists itself, and 57 of those put themselves first. Consequence: you compare marketing, not prices.
Questions people ask
Is AEO more expensive than SEO?
Often somewhat, in our reading, because AEO usually adds off-site work to SEO. First Page Sage, which sells GEO, reports a median GEO/AEO retainer of $6,850 a month in Q3 2026 against $4,740 for SEO, from unpublished data; SE Ranking's survey of mostly small agencies found AI search services averaging about $937 a month. Many agencies bundle the two.
How long are AEO agency contracts?
From month-to-month to 12 months. NetWebMedia, Nugentive, RevenueZen and Tenten publish month-to-month terms; DerivateX and Digital Elevator sell 90-day sprints (Digital Elevator's managed plans have a 4-month minimum); WebFX and AppLabx require six months; PipeRocket's plan with ongoing AEO runs 12. Rock The Rankings, RevenueZen, Discovered Labs and AppLabx discount longer terms.
Can I pay an AEO agency only for results?
Some agencies sell performance-based plans, such as ResultFirst's. Because AI answers vary from run to run, agree in writing on which questions count, how many runs, which assistants and who measures. Google says no one can guarantee a top ranking, so treat any guarantee as a warning.
Why do most AEO agencies not publish prices?
Digital Elevator, which does publish prices, says the category "is still maturing": platforms change, AI visibility has no shared measurement standard, and scope usually needs a discovery phase. Our reading is that a written scope matters more than a rate card: ask for the number of questions, deliverables and term in the proposal, then compare proposals line by line.
